Sustaining and Expanding Lovingkindness (Metta)

In this course we will use mindful movement and yoga postures, as well as breathing practices, deep relaxation and guided meditation to sustain a habit of wishing ourselves well instead of the habitual voice of self-criticism that cycle in the background of our lives. We develop the muscle of basic everyday friendliness and curiosity towards our experience and practice expanding that to include others in our circle of well-wishing. This embodiment of the traditional teaching on the radiant abodes of friendliness, compassion, joy and equanimity builds a sense of stability, ease and peace in body, mind and heart. We come to trust in our confidence to meet ourselves and others where we are, no matter how challenging the situation is, and respond with wisdom rather than react with fear, anger and hopelessness. We come to understand that we are in this dance of life together and there is a great nourishment in this sense of belonging to ourselves and to one another.
